“But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!“
Mark 9:22-24
This father underestimated God’s power. He questioned His authority. My first reaction is “who the heck do you think you are? Questioning my big God.”
Jesus quickly replied back. ‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes!!! With a thunderous voice. Fire in His eyes. And strong hands in the air He motions the power of God in a person for those who believe in Him.
and this is where it gets good.
The father immediately changes heart, realizing his lack of faith and belief, cries out to Jesus, I believe! Help me in my unbelief!
Oh Jesus, how I too would quickly humble myself before you. How I too would quickly submit to you. How I too would ask for help in my unbelief. LORD, I join hands with this father. His words is the cry of my heart. His quick response is the position of my heart. Yes LORD, I truly do believe in you, but please, I am only a man, help me in my unbelief.
